COVID-19: WHAT TO DO

COVID-19: WHAT TO DO IF YOUR WEDDING IS FORCED TO GET CANCELLED DUE TO THE VIRUS OUTBREAK

Lhia Ubaldo | March 14, 2020

“After all this planning it’s like, really? We’re going to postpone? We just really want it to happen but it seems like the worst is yet to come!”

COVID-19 WHAT TO DO

The ongoing pandemic of Coronavirus disease was first introduced to all of us via the internet last December 2019 and has still been going on to this very day. We know that planning weddings are jam-packed with a lot of stress. Talk to the caterer, talk to the photographer, the gowns, do the list of guests, what kind of souvenirs do we give the guests? Look for the perfect venue… And your list of things to do just goes on! Anything to make sure your special day runs smoothly and be the day you and your future spouse will never forget. But what if you’re one of the many who was supposed to exchange I do’s this month and you’re forced to cancel your wedding? What do you do? Luckily, we have these steps for you:

  1. RESCHEDULE YOUR WEDDING DATE

How scary are the news that we see on social media, the radio and on television about the COVID-19 outbreak? It’s alarming and anyone can get infected by the virus just by getting exposed outside the comforts of our homes! You and your guests’ health should be top priority. And pushing through your wedding is just too risky. Just reschedule your wedding date when everything is ok and when DOH and the government advise that it’s now safe to go out.

  1. DO INFORM YOUR GUESTS PERSONALLY ABOUT YOUR DECISION

Now that you’ve planned to reschedule your wedding date, your guests will appreciate if you’d tell them personally. They’ll be glad to have heard it from you instead of the venue or suppliers telling them plus they’ll be more supportive about it from there on.

  1. CHECK YOUR CONTRACTS FROM YOUR SUPPLIERS

You might want to revisit your contracts from your suppliers as you might miss out some penalty fees. Just making sure wouldn’t hurt. Talk to your suppliers and discuss with them new agreements since both parties are affected by the situation. It is best that both of you work together towards a new wedding date. Remember to be calm and considerate to them. Most suppliers are open for rebooking weddings for free.

  1. DOUBLE CHECK ALL YOUR OTHER DOCUMENTS AS WELL

Check also other documents such as marriage license because it has a 3 month validity, your schedules at the church (if you’re having a Catholic wedding), etc. It’s best to check your documents if they will expire so that you can make necessary preparations for it. Be a girl scout, laging handa!

COVID-19 WHAT TO DO

  1. USE THIS TIME TO FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH AND STAY CALM AMIDST THE SITUATION

Since the government issued a Community Quarantine for a month or so, you can’t really do anything much about it. So it’s wise if you take this time to focus on your health, so that you will be ready, healthy and fit on your wedding day. And also take this time to understand and get to know your future spouse even more. Do this to get your mind off on your postponed wedding and shift your mindset to something more worthy of your time and for you to grow more as an individual.
